Engineering Surveying
Design of engineering works for subdivisions is typically undertaken by surveyors. Engineering design for subdivisions is part of the Surveying degree course and there are requirements for experience in this before a surveyor can become registered. Surveyors are also involved in engineering projects where they carry out more specialist surveying tasks such as the set out of plant and civil works.
Planning & Resource Management
The Resource Management Act (RMA) sets up the process for controlling activities that can be carried out in our environment.
The activities themselves are controlled on a local level by DISTRICT PLANS (prepared by local councils) and by REGIONAL PLANS (prepared by regional councils). Examples of activities that require consents under these plans are such things as:-
1) Subdivision of land
2) Development of land for commercial or residential use
3) Road construction
4) Marine farming
5) Building construction
Our planning staff are experienced in the requirements of the District Plan of the Whangarei, Kaipara, Far North and Rodney Districts and with the Northland Regional Plan. They can give advice on both subdivision and land use consents.
